Winging Banner Tutorial

After posting pictures of Travis' winging banner, I got a lot of wives asking how to make it, so I went to the source. Paige, who originally wrote it up, sent me the PDF for it, so that I could pass it on to you. It's written for Marine colors, but if you are a Navy wife, just trade the red for Navy and the dark yellow, for a lighter yellow and I think it will look just fine.  She included a way to hang it by making a pocket on the back, but I chose to use grommets that I bought for fabric at Hobby Lobby. Either way is great! I also chose to sew on my borders, but using the Wonder Under looks just as good and is much easier, for sure! Paige also mentioned that she would love to see other banners, especially if you change them up a bit. You can post links here in the comments or email them to her. Her email is on the bottom of the PDF.  So here ya go! Let me know if you have any questions!  You can download it and print it from this website.

Quilt Love.

These quilts by Leah Evans are amazing!  I am so inspired by them.  They inspire me to draw, to quilt, to embroider, to travel... which I think is a very high compliment.  I can't imagine how much work and skill must go into them.  I found these images about year ago on Apartment Therapy and I seem to always go back to them when I think about my drawings... or rather ideas for drawings.

Little Pouch.

I have decided to buckle down and stop making lists of things to make and start doing.  Here is a little project that I whipped up yesterday that made me feel pretty successful. I always feel better when I make something. I love doing productive, creative things with my hands.  I know that it is the way that God made me.

I made this little pouch using this tutorial from Noodlehead and some scrap fabric that I had in my stash.  The flowered fabric is from a cloth napkin that I picked up from Williams Sonoma on sale one day and the other is some that I purchased to put in a quilt that never came to fruition. It was super easy to sew and I managed to put a zipper in for the first time (although it took 3 tries!).  I am going to use it to carry my phone and cards when I don't want to carry a purse.
