Fish Tacos.

So we recently found out that Hemingway's has $1 Fish Tacos and $4 Mojitos on Wednesday nights, so last Wednesday, we went with our friends, Erin and Alec to try these fish tacos.  It was a beautiful night with a great view of the bay and the sunset. The fish tacos and the company were amazing. Although, you have to eat 5-8 of the tacos to get full, they were well worth the money and something I will definitely try to duplicate at home. I love discovering little jewels like this in the different places that we live. I also love that even though our friends will be moving soon, we will see each other again. You have to love a small Marine Corps!

Ice Cream Runs.

Cute little picnic area at the Tastee Freeze
"No pupcone for me????"

One of our favorite things to do on Summer evenings is to go get ice cream. We love ice cream! We generally choose from Sonic or DQ, but our latest  adventure has led us to the Tastee Freeze in town.  While Tastee Freeze is generally known around here for their awesome gravy, their ice cream sundaes are not bad either.  It's not really the fanciest place around, but they do have an adorable little picnic area with pennants and lights strung up around the trees... and we love that Jackson can come too!

Florida Oranges.

These are the orange trees that I was talking about in my previous post. They smell so good and Springy!
I know I'm a little behind, but I still wanted to share!

Dolce.

There are a few places in Pensacola that I will really miss when we move. Dolce is one of them. It is a super sweet gelato shop perfectly situated next to Pensacola Bay Brewery and Christ Church on Seville Square, one of my favorite parts of the city.  It is so beautiful in the Spring when everything is blooming and smells of orange blossoms, which are so sweet and fragrant.  I always make it a point to introduce people to this place, because I want it to thrive. They have amazing gelato that the owner makes fresh everyday. My favorite flavors are Salted Caramel and Mochaccino, but I tasted Ginger Pear the other day and it was one of the most refreshing things I have ever tasted, perfect for a hot Summer day.  Seriously, go try it!

Crab Cakes at Home.

My husband and I met in Annapolis, Maryland... home of the very best crabs and crab cakes that you can find  and we miss them terribly.  We have found some really good crab cakes here at The Piano Cafe in Milton, but I decided yesterday that in celebration of Travis finishing his flights in the Bravo and graduating up to the Charlie that I would treat him to home made crab cakes.  I guess I was feeling adventurous.

After perusing the web for a long time and looking at numerous recipes, I actually went for Martha's. I had all of the ingredients, minus the crab, and it seemed like it would work well, not too much filler.  I headed up to Joe Patti's fish market in Pensacola, my new favorite place, and purchased a pound of lump crab meat and some cole slaw.  I baked these puppies up and served them for dinner.  The cole slaw was really good and the crab cakes were tasty. I think next time, I will back off the salt some.  With the Old Bay and salt, they were a little salty, but definitely edible.  After a little tweaking, I think that I could pull off great crab cakes next time.
